Alcohol Inks Abstract Art Workshop, Sep 25th, Sun 2pm

Discover the delight in creating abstract patterns in fluid art with the new and hugely popular medium called alcohol inks. Whether you've tried these before or you're completely new to alcohol inks, there's something for everyone to learn in this workshop. We will be creating abstract pieces from scratch. Not only will you get an introduction of how to use the inks, create various shades, and control movement of color on the substrate (yupo) but you'll also learn the basics of composition, how to choose color when creating an abstract piece and really exploring the fluidity and versatility of the medium. The artist will give a demo and guide you while you create artworks of your own.

This is a beginner friendly Painting Party, so you can have a great time making this while learning a new painting style. Also, you don't need to have painted before. Just a love for colors and an eagerness to learn and have fun is enough for this. Workshop is for adults but kids 10 and above who are keen to learn and paint are most welcome.

About the Instructor: Sai Priya Mahajan is an Indian Contemporary Artist who recently won the Outstanding Watercolor Award at the Boldbrush Contest. An engineering graduate from IIT Bombay, she has now exhibited in India (Mumbai, Bangalore, Chandigarh) as well as internationally (NY, Philadelphia - USA, Toronto-Canada, Taipei-Taiwan) and is part of several Art Associations including the International Watercolor Society, Philadelphia Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, USA and a lifetime member of the Art Society of India. Sai loves to share the joy of painting by teaching various art forms and has conducted many art workshops in the past.

Rough schedule

First 5 mins - Introduction & Demo

Next 15 mins - Practice & Exploring the Medium

Next 1 hour - Demo & Painting with Alcohol Inks

Last 5 mins - Wrap up and photos.

Materials:

1. Alcohol inks (2-3 colors that go well together. For example: Light blue & Pink/Magenta or another combination: Yellow & Red or Light Blue & Yellow. Brands I use: Jacquard, )
2. Yupo Paper (or photo paper/ some other non absorbent surface, but Yupo is recommended for best results)
3. IPA/ isopropyl alcohol/ rubbing alcohol/ alcohol ink medium above 90% purity
4. Masking/cello tape, dropper to drop paint, some straws, toothpick or stylus, hair dryer, small bottles (quilling glue bottle) to mix and drop paint
5. some basics like tissues, some rough papers, a plate/palette, water, pencil, eraser.
6. Gloves (optional) & mask (optional), else it is recommended that you attend the workshop in a well ventilated area to avoid taking in fumes.

Please be ready with all required materials at least 5-10 mins before the start of the session. Register using the participants name, email & phone number, on which whatsapp is functional, this is where all communication will be sent. Please note that all timings are in IST (GMT+5:30hrs).

Late entries are not allowed. Please familiarise yourself with Zoom and its usage so you can join in on time, and have no trouble during the session. Zoom link will be sent to you 10 mins before the start of the session on whatsapp.
